Bollywood news : now Priyanka and Ranbir are good friends again| Priyanka and Ranbir friends again

Priyanka and Ranbir were more than just "good friends" (ahem) during the filming of Anjaana Anjaani, though the duo has consistently slammed all such talk citing it as mere speculation. There was much excitement when the reported twosome showed up for a five day shooting spell of Anurag Basu's Barfee.

Ranbir and Priyanka are looking forward to the bigger schedule in August 2011 when Priyanka

Actor and Electronic Engineer R. Madhavan says that "I didn’t want a 9 to 5 job! and take up engineering to satisfy my family;s protocol"

From TV to films, his career has been on a very consistent upswing. A trained electronics engineer with passions like aero modeling and skiing, communicating and public speaking, Indian actor, writer, film producer and TV host R Madhavan is making the best of both worlds - life and his profession. Living life on ones own terms and still doing what is best for everyone around him, he share’s his tips with Lata Khubchandani, on living life optimally.

Q. What did you want to do, when in school?
A. I was aware of what I didn’t want to do – a 9 to 5 job! I didn’t want to stick to a routine.

Q. Why did you take up engineering then?
A. To satisfy my family’s protocol.

Q. How did education mould your sensibilities?
A. I had the good fortune of finishing my education across the world - Bihar, Kolhapur Canada, USA. I learnt how to fit into different groups. The lifestyle in Canada during high school was westernised. Kolhapur (engineering) was totally different. But I fitted in and achieved more here than in Canada. I took up public speaking, won a lot of competitions. A friend and I would decide, which competitions to enter depending on the prize money!

Q. Were your parents upset?
A. I got the Electronics Engineering Degree with a lot of hard work but when I didn’t take it up as a career, they were disappointed but not heartbroken. They knew I was a survivor. I was earning Rs. 60,000 to 70,000 a month teaching public speaking and communication skills in college. Plus I had been abroad so many times on so many scholarships including as an NCC cadet that they knew I’d be okay.

What will be Ash Feture Because news of Ash is Pregnant???

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is pregnant. And at the time when IIFA is on top of the mind in Toronto, Sr Bachchan’s ‘Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap’ is all set to release and Aishwarya’s film ‘Heroine’ is on the floors, frenetic activity all over and the announcement by a proud dadaji(grandfather) to be has started creating a frenzy of speculations and stories about the pregnancy, the timing of the film among others.

But whatever the accusations may be, Amitabh is surely a prod Dada now. This ensures that they have the third generations Bachchans by birth. As Amitabh tweets and we retweet, “Amitabh and Ajitabh, first generation Bachchan... then Abhishek and Bhim and now Abhishek’s and Aishwarya's…”

Ash’s pregnancy has thrown up many interesting angles.

1: What happens to Madhur Bhandarkar’s ‘Heroine’?

A: Madhur was made aware of her pregnancy before the shooting went on floors. Ash has been finishing her shots with ease and ensuring that she finishes her work before she puts on a lot of weight. Ash is still making public appearances and is looking plump as well. And that has also made Madhur wary of a lot of things. The kind of shots he has been taking are all his wide angle shots. Madhur has also used a second camera to do the close up shots so that he does not need to get the same location later as well.

2: What happens to other announcements like Rajkumar Santoshi’s ‘Ladies And Gentlemen’?

A: This film may well be shelved or postponed. Santoshi had been refused by many actors and his film ‘Power’ went powerless after Ajay Devgn pulled out of it. His Katrina Kaif starrer also had to be shelved because the actress was not giving him dates. That left him with this film starring Abhishek and Ash. But then this romantic comedy may well be shelved because of that.

3: What happens to Ashutosh Gowariker’s dream of uniting Ash and SRK?

A: Well, that does not seem possible for a few years now.

'3 Idiots' highest grossing Bollywood movie

MUMBAI - Aamir Khan's latest film, "3 Idiots," has become thehighest grossing Bollywood movie of all time, with strong showings athome and abroad raising hopes for further cross-over hits for Indianfilms.
The leading actor-producer-director wrote on his blog that boxoffice takings for the coming-of-age comedy had already surpassed thosefor his 2008 hit "Ghajini," which was the previous record holder.
"In less than 10 days 3i has overtaken the ENTIRE business ofGHAJINI!!!! India, Overseas, everywhere!!! And is still going strong,"Khan wrote Monday, describing himself as "fully overwhelmed and totallyhumbled."
India's Business Standard newspaper said Tuesday that "3 Idiots" hadtaken 2.4 billion rupees ($51 million) from the domestic andinternational market since opening on December 25. "Ghajini" took 2.25billion rupees.
Meanwhile www.hollywood.comand Deadline Hollywood, which both track box office takings in theUnited States, said "3 Idiots" has so far made 4.8 million dollarsafter opening in nearly 120 US theaters.
No Bollywood film has crossed the $4-million threshold before.
The film's success has given Bollywood a boost, after adisappointing 2009 marked by a damaging producers' boycott of multiplexcinemas in a row over box office takings, swine flu fears and a stringof big budget flops.
The Business Standard said "3 Idiots" has so far made more moneythan Bollywood's entire ticket receipts in November, which included thehit "Ajab Prem Ki Gazab Kahani" (An Amazing Story Of Strange Love).
Indian box office takings are lower than in Hollywood because of lower ticket prices.
Film critics and industry analysts attributed the success of "3Idiots" not just to Khan's star quality, but also high productionvalues, a sustained marketing campaign and the story's wide appeal.
A public row about how much the film was based on Chetan Bhagat'sbest-seller "Five Point Someone," and a lack of other big-namereleases, may also have helped.
"It's a very well-made film with a message and with a big star. Itbrings back memories of people's experience of the education system inIndia," Taran Adarsh, from bollywoodhungama.com, said of the film'soverseas success.
"If you still have family here I think you identify with it all the more," he told AFP.
Mayank Shekhar, national cultural editor at The Hindustan Timesnewspaper, said the same expatriate Indian "IT crowd" who bought "FivePoint Someone" appear to have flocked to US cinemas, boosting audiences.
"What's equally important is that it's not a preachy film. It's byitself a complete comedy, which is what most mainstream audiences gofor," he said.
A well-constructed combination of a leading star, well-placedsong-and-dance routines and a message gave it "all the elements of aBollywood blockbuster," he added.
US film studios have been eyeing India's popular Hindi-language filmindustry for several years, hoping to tap in to an expanding2.3-billion-dollar market.
Hopes are high that Shahrukh Khan's upcoming film "My Name Is Khan" will match or even eclipse the success of "3 Idiots."
Fox Searchlight, which promoted the Oscar-winning film "Slumdog Millionaire," and other Fox units are handling distribution.
Adarsh said the overseas market is becoming increasingly important for Bollywood.
"The domestic market has traditionally been measured in rupees.Today it's dollars, pounds, dirham, euros and various othercurrencies," he said.
"It's not just the Indian diaspora. It's people in Pakistan,Bangladesh, the Middle East. The success of '3 Idiots' is just the tipof the iceberg."
